What can be done to reverse the effects of facial aging and sun damage?

As the summer winds to an end we must all look back at the sun damage that has occurred especially for those that "lay out." Too much sun exposure can cause reorganization of the epidermis and dermal layers of the skin causing tight collagen fibers to become loose and elastin fibers to be come wavy. This means thinner skin, weaker collagen fibers and eventually descent because the skin will be less tightly anchored. Addressing deterioration of skin can be done simply with use of good skin care products that have a retin-a or Tretinoin/retinol based products in them.Tretinoin will increase collagen production in the dermis resulting in thicker skin that is healthy and more tightly anchored. This is the first step in facial aging reversal. Start slow (1:3 days) and slowly move to once a day at night because it can cause some dryness. It is the best product we have as skin care professionals in combatting and REPAIRING the effects of sun damage.
